Last year, I was diagnosed with Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (ALCL). Anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) is a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma that features in the World Health Organisation (WHO) classification of lymphomas. Symptoms of this disease include (THIS IS WHAT I HAD) 1) Swelling of the lymph nodes (on my neck) 2) Night time and regular fevers 3) Weirdness So, I went to Narayana Hrudayalaya (the best) and met this nice doctor called Sharat Damodar (Shakespeare of the future). So I started getting my treatment there. I`ve read as well as heard (public opinion), that cancer is untreatable. Well, I hope my experience is a example that it is POSSIBLE to survive. More and more people are getting themselves treated. So, chemotherapy is the required treatment for such diseases. I had to undergo this treatment and it was kind of enjoyable and disorienting at the same time. The room i was placed in was excellent. I still remember the Room No (319) of the 3rd Floor Paediatric Ward. With each dat, Mom and I got to know the nurses better. They were all very nice and receptive. We had a memorable experience with them. Now, my doctors were Dr.Sharat Damodar, Dr.Radhika Naidu and Dr.Prasad Narayan. Well Dr.Sharat, his command over the English language was simply amazing. I really learnt a lot from him. "Take a call on" was one of his punch line! Nice guy... Dr.Radhika was also nice; she was very supportive of my mum and was very very nice to me all the time. Dr.Prasad is the man for pepping up anybody. His quirky humour was very heartening and wouldn’t allow me to feel depressed about my self. Also special mention to Dr.Praveena my pain specialist. Mom and her got along really well. She was really supportive and helpful. Besides these people there were innumerable other people who helped me.The doctors from the PITU, the cleaners etc etc. I`d like to thank these people for giving me a new lease of life.....a second life And last but not the least, Dr.Devi Shetty for setting up this great institution.
